Experiencing the story of Kochi
The re-imagination of the Mullassery Canal in Ernakulum district is an opportunity to re-establish the story of Kochi and its evolution through history. The resultant ‘Mullassery Canal Mile’ (MCM) is conceived as a convivial public destination steeped in the ephemeral ‘Kochi Identity’ that continuously engages with the city, creating meaningful experiences by invoking inclusive and sustainable practices. The transformation entails Restoration of the Mullassery Canal through various interventions, retrofitting infrastructure and place making of the demarcated area. The MCM designed with these aforementioned ideas will represent a complicated, layered narrative that will help residents explore new opportunities and help visitors engage with the city in meaningful ways. The place will come alive with people and their acts - expressions, involvement, association and connections. The physical setting, spatial arrangement, treatment, signage and meaning will evolve with the engagement.  This will create liveliness, vibrancy and ensure that people will keep coming back to the MCM.
